IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRAVEL ABROAD AND VOLUNTEER ON LOCAL PROJECTS

THEN THIS OFFER IS MADE FOR YOU!

JOIN OUR NEXT TRIP COMBINED WITH VOLUNTEERING EXPERIENCE AND SPEND 2 WEEKS IN VIETNAM!

THE TRIP IS PLANNED IN OCTOBER 2018

We have already painted school classes in Nepal, we have repaired the school canteen and we organized a sports Olympiad in Peru, and this time ... we will help the local community, among others to collect tea in the north of Vietnam, in the province of Ha Giang - an area rarely visited by tourists, and also a place where almost 90% of the population are ethnic minorities. And we will have the opportunity to learn at least a bit of their rich culture;) The program could not miss visiting the Vietnamese capital - Hanoi, as well as the famous Ha Long Bay, so read the entire program;)

To make up your mind, firstly read the interview with the participants of our first trip combined with group volunteering to Nepal: HERE and the reports from previous trips HERE.

The final question we asked our volunteers was: will the volunteers repeat this experience?

Monika immediately replies: “Yes, yes, and yes again! And I will whole-heartedly encourage everyone to try this form of holidays. And as soon as I find out about a trip with the same team – I’m in – no questions asked ;)”

Małgosia has similar thoughts: „We are a group of six girls who really took a great liking to each other. We shared the same sense of humour, we supported each other when one of us didn’t feel too well, we were eager to discover each other. For sure we will keep in touch.”

Marta: „We didn’t know each other before the journey – the first time we saw each other was in the departure hall at the Okęcie Airport in Warsaw. I hope that we will not only stay in touch, but that we will paint more than one school together :)

The trip is planned in October, the specific dates to be confirmed.

Day 2 - Hanoi

Accommodation in a selected hotel. Depending on the time of arrival - visiting the city. Dinner at one of the restaurants in the center.

Day 3 - Hanoi

After breakfast, we will start exploring the city with a local guide. We will visit some of Hanoi's attractions. Starting from the Ho Chi Minh complex: Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (outside), One Column Pagoda, Stilt Ho Chi Minh House and Ho Chi Minh Museum. Next we will see the Temple of Literature, originally built as the temple of Confucius; This is the first university in Vietnam, dating back to 1070.

Then we will have the Museum of Ethnology, widely recognized as the best in Vietnam, which houses an exhibition devoted to 54 ethnic minorities in Vietnam. Then we will go to the Ngoc Son temple located on a tiny island in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake.

For a moment of rest we will go to a typical local cafe in Hanoi, where we will try a local drink (recommended egg coffee, loved by Hanoier).

And at the end of the tour we suggest an hour's bicycle ride through the Old Quarter. This busy area of narrow streets, also known as 36 streets, is home to thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers. It is a great place to take interesting photos.

We will also go to the Thang Long theater at the Water Puppet Show, a unique Vietnamese traditional art. This art comes from rural festivals in Vietnam. Artists - men and women - stand in the water and put dolls in motion: they speak, laugh and even dance on the surface of the water.

Lunch and dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4 - Hanoi - Ha-Giang - Shan Tea Village

Early in the morning we will go to the north of Vietnam. This trip will take us around. 8.5 hours

In the afternoon we will reach the village of Shan Tea. After rest, we will meet with all key people (other volunteers, staff, local youth, tea growers), find out more about our project, and discuss the weekly schedule. We will stop in the authentic village of the Thai ethnic minority (Tay), 6 km from Ha Giang. We will live in a traditional building made of wood and bamboo and topped with a roof covered with palm trees. We will share a shared room, where everyone will find a place on separate comfortable mattresses. Our hosts will prepare dinner for us.

Hà Giang is a province located in the far north of the country and contains the most northerly point of Vietnam. Ha Giang Province is the last to open up to tourism and offers some of the most captivating scenery in Vietnam. Virgin forests, natural mountain fortresses carved on terraces, rocky plateaus divided by breathtaking canyons. These majestic landscapes protect the largest diversity of ethnic minorities in Vietnam. Here you can discover the real and natural life of ethnic minorities in Ha Giang as the people of H'mong.

Day 5 - 6 - Shan Tea

We will learn about the culture and rhythm of work in the ancient villages of the Red Dzao and Thai tribes. Our activities will also focus on improving language skills and discussing with local youth how to develop small businesses. In addition, during these days we will also help in the collection of tea, produce paper or decorate clothes. We will also have the opportunity to make silver !;) In this way, we'll find out what everyday life in northern Vietnam really means! At the same time, we will help local communities.

Ha Giang is considered the homeland of Snow Shan tea, in which the tea plant has its roots. There are many mountains here, where "wild" tea grows and is harvested by local people. The ancient organic mountains of Shan in the Ha Giang mountains are owned by Red Dzao tribes, Thais, H'mong. These tribes live in small and peaceful villages in the upper mountains; they collect and produce their precious tea from generation to generation. They think their tea is a natural remedy because tea can be used as a way to detoxify; they prevent heart disease, arthritis and reduce the risk of cancer. Green tea, white tea, red tea, Puerh tea and black tea are harvested from the same tree, but are processed differently to achieve different levels of oxidation.

Day 7-9 - Shan Tea - Gate of Heaven Quan Ban - a village of handicrafts traders Hmong

We will continue exploring the north of Vietnam;) We will go to the Dong Van Karst Plateau.

The Dong Van Plateau, in the northernmost corner of the province, has been inscribed on the UNESCO list of UNESCO geoparks. The plateau of more than two thousand square kilometers is occupied by karst formations, evidence of tectonic phenomena from over 400 million years ago.

We will go to DONG VAN, we will see BAC SUM, the Gate of Heaven and the town of TOM SON. Then we will take part in a textile workshop at the Hmong tribe in Lung Tam and have lunch in this village.

Then, traveling through PHO CAO we will go to: SUNG LA, a village of the white H'mong tribe. We will also visit King H'mong Palace. Then we will reach the northernmost point of Vietnam - LUNG CU.
We spend the night in a guest house at the Hmong tribe in Dong Van.

Day 10 - Dong Van - Meo Vac

After breakfast in Dong Van, we will visit the old towns there. We will also visit the local market and we will have the chance to buy souvenirs. Then we will go to the most beautiful pass in Vietnam, known as Ma Pi Leng.

The road from Dong Van to Meo Vac, leading through high mountain ranges, is the most beautiful part of the entire route. The Ma Pi Leng Pass is one of the most beautiful roads on which you can ride in Vietnam. The road was built by young people from 17 ethnic groups in the years 1959-1965.

After reaching the city of Meo Vac we will have dinner there and we will stay there for the night.

Day 11 - Meo Vac - Ha-Giang - Hanoi

After breakfast, we go directly to the city of Ha Giang, we have lunch at Ha Giang, and then we go to Hanoi.
After the journey, we will rest in the center of Hanoi.

Day 12 - Hanoi - Ha Long Bay

After breakfast, we will go to Ha Long Bay (the journey will take about 4 hours).
Then we will go to the boat, which will be our home for the next two days;) And for lunch we will try seafood;)
We will go by boat to see the islands and caves. It will be possible to kayak near beautiful beaches.

Day 13 - Ha Long Bay - Hanoi

We can start the day with morning Tai Chi exercises on board. We will also have time to further explore the bay from the deck and lunch before we head towards land. After dinner, we return to Hanoi (about 4 hours).

In Hanoi we will have our farewell supper. After dinner, we will go to the airport (suggested flight at 01:30).
